Toyota, the best-selling car brand in U.S. market
Hierarchy marks on the U.S. market has undergone major changes in 2008, Toyota moving 3rd on first, with 1.84 million units sold, ahead of Chevrolet and Ford with 1.8 million with 1.74 million. Chevrolet and Ford have registered a decrease of 20% compared to Toyota, which became the best-selling brand in the U.S. In general, in 2008, Japanese brands have smaller losses than the U.S.: Honda -6.4% -10.9% Nissan, Mazda -10% and -25% Dodge, GMC -25.8% Chrysler-38%, -29% Jeep, and Pontiac 25%. VW Group has one of the best performances, with Volkswagen and Audi -3.2% -6.1%. Only three brands saw increases in volume on the most important car market in the world: 0.3% Subaru, Mini and Rolls-Royce 28% 17.4%.
