The Americans will enter the Chevrolet-sized MPV segment with Orlando, which was announced alongside the Cruze in the previous year. Photos of Orlando Carpix surprised model during winter testing and we expect it to appear in front of cameras in the coming months. Onset of the compact MPV is expected during the year 2010, which means that it could begin in the fall or winter this year.
Chevrolet Orlando is a mixture between SUV and MPV, like the Dodge Journey. It will rival models like the Mazda5, but will have back doors to be opened normally, not sliding as if it Mazda5. Considering the external dimensions of Orlando, Americans could develop and a seven-seat version of the MPV. Orlando is the first compact MPV series models from GM and will be followed closely by the next generation of the Opel Zafira.
New Orlando is based on the Delta platform from GM. Production will be made by the factory in Hamtrack, Michigan. Camouflage applied to the GM on Orlando is quite thick, which prevents observation of the model lines. However, the prototype of Orlando has the same form with the concept that debuted at the Paris Motor Show in 2008.
