The Dodge Magnum is a full-size American station wagon with spacious cargo capacity. It is engineer for safety. All-wheel drive is available for all-weather capability. However, what makes the Magnum special is its hot rod styling and rumbling engines. There is nothing else quite like it.
The 2008 Dodge Magnum is available in four models. All come standard with rear-wheel drive; Magnum R/T and SXT models are available with all-wheel drive.
The 2008 Magnum is a 4-door, 5-passenger wagon, available in 6 trims, ranging from the Base to the SRT8.
The 2008 Dodge Magnum receives exterior updates including new crosshair grille, additional chrome elements, extra detailing around fog lights, accent lines to highlight the hood and new wheels. A redesigned instrument panel, instrument cluster, center console and door trim panels highlight the interior updates along with additional satin-chrome trim and improved soft-touch surfaces. LED lighting is available for the cup holders and door pockets and SIRIUS Backseat TV with a one-year subscription to SIRIUS satellite video is available with the rear-seat Video Entertainment System. The Magnum SRT8 receives a new hood with functional hood scoop, new headlights, new front and rear fascias, new gauge cluster and SRT-exclusive Reconfigurable Display (RCD).
Highs: Rear seat room.
Lows: Visibility, braking, turning circle, modest cargo area.
The Magnum is a wagon version of the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger. The 3.5-liter V6 version we tested delivered good acceleration and 19 mpg overall. The 5.7-liter Hemi V8 shuts off four cylinders while cruising to conserve fuel, but our V8-powered Charger got only 17 mpg overall. The Magnum does not shine in ride or handling. The rear seat is roomy, but visibility is compromise by the low roof, high dash, and thick roof pillars. Traction and stability control are available, and optional AWD aids snow traction but at the expense of acceleration and fuel economy. Dodge will drop the Magnum in 2008.
