2009 Dodge Durango 4-door Limited Sport Utility

The 2009 Durango is a 4-door, up to 8-passenger sport-utility, available in 6 trims, ranging from the SE 4X2 to the Limited 4X4. Upon introduction, the SE 4X2 is equipped with a standard 3.7-liter, V6, 210-horsepower engine that achieves 14-mpg in the city and 20-mpg on the highway. A 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The Limited 4X4 is equipped with a standard 4.7-liter, V8, 303-horsepower, flexible fuel engine that achieves 13-mpg in the city and 18-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The 2009 Durango is a carryover from 2008.

Limited models are plush, with leather upholstery; automatic climate control; heated front seats; four-way power passenger seat; power-adjustable pedals; heated power mirrors; memory for the driver's seat, mirrors, radio, climate control and pedals; auto-dimming rearview and driver's side mirrors; three-passenger third-row 60/40 split folding seat; Alpine eight-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo; rear park assist; rearview camera; Chrysler's uconnect Phone wireless cell phone link; power lift gate; and P265/50R20 on-/off-road tires on chrome alloy wheels. Despite the growing popularity of crossover utility vehicles, or cuvs, for those with serious towing and hauling needs there are few substitutes for a full-blown, body-on-frame SUV. Among the more notable is the 2009 Dodge Durango, a seven-passenger muscle machine with a rugged and distinctive style, a plush interior and the option of a HEMI V8 under the hood. Although not as large as a Chevrolet Suburban, the Durango has grown large enough to compete head-on with such competitors as the Chevrolet Tahoe and Ford Expedition. Dodge's MDS (Multiple-Displacement System) technology helps save some gas, and a new hybrid-model goes even further. Alternative fuel fans will be sad to learn the 4.7-liter Flex-Fuel V8 has been dropped.

Exterior

Dodge promotes the Durango's "broad-shouldered presence," starting with a familiar crosshair grille. The SUV features short front and rear overhangs, a dramatically sloped windshield and what Dodge calls "powerful" wheel arches. Interior

Durango’s can hold up to eight occupants when equipped with three rows of seats. Seven- and five-person configurations are also offered. Bucket seats are optional for the second row. Heated cloth seats are available, and all cloth seats come with standard stain-repellant seat fabric.
Cargo volume behind the third row is 20 cubic feet; that space grows to 102.4 cubic feet when both rear seats are folded down. Due to its smaller size, the Durango has predictably less maximum cargo volume than its competitors (the Sequoia has 120.8, the Expedition 108.2 and the Tahoe 108.9). There is 155.2 cubic feet of passenger volume.
