2009 Dodge Dakota SXT 4x4 Crew Cab SWB pickup 4-door automatic

The 2009 Dakota Crew Cab 4X4 is a 4-door, up to 6-passenger compact pickup, available in four trims, ranging from the ST to the LARAMIE. Upon introduction, the ST is equipped with a standard 3.7-liter, V6, 210-horsepower engine that achieves 15-mpg in the city and 19-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The LARAMIE is equipped with a standard 3.7-liter, V6, 210-horsepower engine that achieves 14-mpg in the city and 18-mpg on the highway. A 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

Dakota features three unique models ST, SXT, and SLT, providing tremendous flexibility. Available in two cab styles: Extended Cab and Crew Cab (depending on model).

Highs: Roomy cabin, access.
Lows: Fuel economy, agility, road and wind noise, turning circle, no ESC, reliability.

The Dakota midsized pickup offers a V8 engine and impressive towing capacity. The 4.7-liter V8 gained more horsepower for 2008 and got a bit smoother. The standard V6 is lackluster. The ride is more compliant than the Chevrolet Colorado and Toyota Tacoma, but it is too buoyant on the highway or with a load in the bed. The Dakota lacks agility, has pronounced body lean, and slow steering. Stability control is not available. Interior quality could be better. Reliability of all versions has been below average. The Mitsubishi Raider is essentially the same truck, but it will be discontinued soon.
