The Dodge Charger is a boldly designed full-size four-door sedan which can be factory equipped from mild to wild to suit virtually any buyers needs or desires.

The 2009 Charger is a 4-door, 5-passenger sports sedan, available in 6 trims, ranging from the SE to the SRT8.

The SE is equipped with a standard 2.7-liter, V6, 178-horsepower engine that achieves 18-mpg in the city and 26-mpg on the highway. A 4-Speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The SRT8 is equipped with a standard 6.1-liter, V8, 425-horsepower engine that achieves 13-mpg in the city and 19-mpg on the highway. A 5-Speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The 2009 Charger is a carryover from 2008.

Highs: Unique personality for a family sedan, able brakes, available all-wheel drive.
Lows: Too big at times, sucks gas, mail-slot windows, Chargers should have two doors.

This sedan offers a powerful 5.7-liter Hemi V8, making it quick but returning only 17 mpg overall. The 3.5-liter V6 provides ample performance and returned 19 mpg. The ride is stiff, and frequent ride motions make the car feel unsettled. The overly light steering makes the large Charger dirty and demands constant attention, although handling is ultimately secure. The otherwise-roomy rear seat has marginal headroom. A 6.1-liter, V8-equipped SRT8 is also available. IIHS crash-test results were poor when tested without the optional curtain air bags. Reliability of the V6 is average, but it scored too low in testing to be recommended.
