2001 Chrysler Neon LE sedan 4dr manual

2001 Chrysler Neon LE sedan 4dr manual

When introduced in 1996 the Neon came in two versions, the SE and the better equipped LX. Both were powered by a 16 valve 2.0 liter engine with a choice of five-speed manual or three-speed-automatic transmission. The LX was replaced by the LE when the updated model was introduced in 1999.

The handling on the Chrysler Neon is precise and consistent but compared to other vehicles in its class the noise level is higher and the ride is not as smooth.

The Neon handled well, displaying safe, predictable road behavior and good stability over varying test conditions. The non-ABS brakes of the SE tested gave a good performance, in normal conditions, with low pedal effort required, although the updated ABS equipped LE model provided shorter stopping distances.

The Chrysler Neon is a reliable car with an interior that although small is still airy. If you are a passenger sitting in the rear, the leg room is quite small. The styling is also a little bit cheap.

When it comes to equipment the Chrysler Neon has lots of it, this includes important safety extras like twin airbags and ABS breaking in all versions except the LE.

The most popular Chrysler Neon engine size is the 2.0 liter, its lively as a manual but the three-speed auto transmission is a bit lazy which makes it less pleasurable to drive and makes it more expensive to run.

Fuel consumption by the Neon is about 9.8 litres/100km in the city and 7.6 litres/100km in the country, which is very good and was the leader of its class.
