2000 Chrysler LHS sedan 4dr automatic

The LHS is respectively, luxury and sports versions of Chrysler's Concorde. They get minor trim and options changes for 2000, including an available 4-disc in-dash CD changer and revised instrument lighting designed to improve readability. LHS use the same front-wheel-drive chassis as the Concorde and similar Dodge Intrepid, but have distinct styling and shorter bodies. LHS share a 253-horsepower V6 and automatic transmission.

The LHS is a luxury spin-off of the Chrysler Concorde and Dodge Intrepid sedans that rides the same front-drive chassis and carries different styling touches and a more powerful engine.

Chrysler also sells the sportier 300M, which is based on the same design but 10 inches shorter than the LHS and exported to other countries.

Exterior

Though the LHS borrows the Concorde's styling, it has a unique front appearance highlighted by a taller, narrower grille and four projector style headlamps. It also uses Chrysler's trademark cab-forward design in which the wheels are pushed out to the ends of the car, leaving little overhang.

Standard 17-inch tires and cast-aluminum wheels give the LHS a bigger footprint than the Concorde, which has 16-inch tires and wheels. Chrome wheels and a power sunroof are optional.

Interior Features

The elegant, flowing shapes that grace the exterior are carried through inside. Interior surfaces are soft to the touch for a luxurious feel. No seams are visible where the passenger airbag resides. The instrument cluster display was revised for 2000 for improved visibility. Elegant white-faced analog gauges, surrounded by thin chrome bezels, used electroluminescent lighting. Stylish typefaces give them a classic look. A beautiful white-faced clock that features watch-like detail is mounted in the center of the dash. Flanked by the Chrysler wings, it complements the design theme. Major controls use large twist dials. Few manufacturers get radios right and the LHS features slider tone controls that are challenging to operate when driving. For 2000, Chrysler has added an optional four-disc CD changer to its Infinity II audio system. Overall, the wood trim is attractive, but the oval piece of wood surrounding the shifter seems unnecessary and diminishes the positive effect of the rest of the trim.

Leather seating and heated front seats with personalized memory controls on the driver's side are standard. LHS offers a bit more front and rear legroom than the 300M. Power window and door locks switches are chrome-colored for 2000 and the power mirror switches are color-keyed.
Overall, it's a brilliant interior. Light colors, such as the Camel on ours, give it an elegant look. Compared with the Lincoln Continental, the LHS offers an interior design that is sleeker and more contemporary.
The LHS comes with a larger trunk than the 300M and it holds plenty of luggages for long trips. Details, such as gas struts for the trunk hinges, make life seem just a bit more luxurious.

Under the Hood

A 253-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 and four-speed automatic transmission comprise the LHS's lone power train. The new Intrepid R/T use the same engine, which gets up to a gallop quickly and gives these cars satisfying passing power. A standard low-speed traction-control system helps get the power to slippery pavement.
