The Dodge Intrepid receives a new engine line-up for 2002. The standard engine on the base SE is a 2.7L V-6 engine with a power output of 200 horsepower. The ES trim is now equipped standard with a 3.5L V-6 engine producing 234 horsepower. And finally, the SXT and R/T models are equipped with a 3.5L V-6 engines that deliver 244 horsepower and include selectable dual-mode Auto Stick and a performance-tuned exhaust for R/T models. Additional R/T model revisions include performance suspension and traction control. For all models, the Anti-lock Braking System now includes Electronic Brake Distribution. A new maintenance schedule has also been added that requires no tune-ups or coolant flushing for the first 100,000 miles.
