2007 Chrysler Crossfire Limited Coupe 3dr manual

2007 Chrysler Crossfire Limited Coupe 3dr manual
The Chrysler Crossfire combines American design with German engineering. Look underneath and you'll find a lot of Mercedes parts, including the V6 engine, multilink suspension and steering. It's based heavily on the Mercedes-Benz SLK.
The Crossfire comes as either a coupe or a convertible roadster. It is available in two trims: base and limited. It seats two passengers in its luxurious interior. It is powered by a 215 hp 3.2-liter 18-valve single-overhead-cam V-6 engine. Power is controlled by either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission with manual gear selection. Standard safety features include seatbelt pretension, knee airbags, traction control and four-disc brake ABS with Brake Assist.

Crossfire returns for 2007 after skipping the 2006 model year. This two-seater blends American styling with engineering from Chrysler's parent-company Mercedes-Benz. Crossfire comes as a hatchback coupe and as a convertible with a power soft top and heated glass rear window. Both body styles offer base and limited models. The high-performance SRT-6 model is no longer available. The lone engine is a 215-hp Mercedes V6. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard; a 5-speed automatic is optional on Limited. Curtain side airbags are unavailable, but driver and passenger knee airbags are added for '07. A plug-in air compressor and a can of tire sealant are provided instead of a spare tire. Limited comes with leather upholstery and is available with a navigation system.

Test automatic-transmission Limited coupe did 6.6 sec 0-60 mph. That's brisk, but quick passing response requires pronounced stab at throttle to coax a downshift from otherwise smooth-working transmission. Manual-transmission versions feel more responsive. Convertible weighs little more than coupe, has similar acceleration.
Test automatic-transmission coupe averaged 20.9 mpg, including gas-eating performance tests. Test manual-transmission convertible averaged 19.2 mpg. Premium-grade fuel is required.
Controlled and stable at speed, but coupe very firm; some testers consider it harsh on all but smooth surfaces. All-season tires have discernible comfort edge over "summer" treads. Convertible far more absorbent than comparable coupe, is among most-comfortable-riding 2-seat sports cars.

Coupe has 7.6 cu ft of cargo room beneath its hatch; good for a 2-seater of this size. But hatch opening is narrow and oddly shaped cargo bay has tall leftover for potential back-straining loading, unloading. Convertible trunk smaller: 6.5 cu ft with top up, only 3.5 with it down. Both body styles have limited in-cabin storage.
